Air Source Heat Pump & Solar PV2018-08-09T13:48:30+00:00

Project Description

ROWAN LODGE, STAFFORDSHIRE

The Back Ground

Rowan Lodge is a bungalow which is inhabited by a disabled person. They required a stable temperature to be maintained throughout the home. Furthermore, the large property also has a swimming pool that needs to be heated to 30°C for use, whilst remaining 24°C when unused. However, the constant fluctuation in oil prices meant the customer wanted to pursue a lower cost option.

Solution

The Hitachi Air Source Heat pump was installed and connected to a Worcester oil boiler, which acts as a backup in case the heat pump needs assisting during peak demands.

An 8kW Solar PV system with an export limitations device was also installed, due to the high demand for electricity. The limitations device prevents power exceeding 4kw from being fed back into the national grid, thereby reducing the carbon footprints alongside electrical costs.

Photovoltaic (PV)

Photovoltaic (PV) converts sunlight into electricity, by passing through an inverter, this converts DC current into AC current and helps to supply the electricity you use in your house. Excess electricity generated can be used to heat your hot water via an iboost connected to your hot water cylinder.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) works by absorbing heat from outside air through this system and can be operated effectively at temperatures as low as -20°C meaning it can be relied upon across the seasons to provide regular and consistent performance giving homeowners control over cost and efficiencies.
This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems and hot water in your home.

Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

• Lower heating bills*
• Lower carbon emissions than conventional heating*
• It extracts energy from the air as low as -20’c to generate temperatures up to 55’c
• Produces 3 times more energy than it uses
• Minimal maintenance is required
• Ideal for customer wo do not have much land.
• Lower cost to install than Ground Source Heat Pumps.

Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)

• Lower your carbon emissions
• Saving money on electricity bills
• Gaining an income from Feed in Tariffs

Estimated Annual Output: 9194 kWh
C02 saving: 1719 kw/yr
Annual income generated from Fit Tariff: £498
Annual income generated from Export tariff: £74

“I approached iheat ltd for the installation of an Air source heat pump, and a solar PV system to supply heat to a large property and swimming pool, after they had been recommended to me by my electricians. Graham had great knowledge of what we required when provided with the specifications. There were complications, given the complexity and demands of the system but Graham stayed with the project throughout, and liaised with the manufacturer of the system to get it working how it should. I would happily recommend them again”
