The Back Ground

Rowan Lodge is a bungalow which is inhabited by a disabled person. They required a stable temperature to be maintained throughout the home. Furthermore, the large property also has a swimming pool that needs to be heated to 30°C for use, whilst remaining 24°C when unused. However, the constant fluctuation in oil prices meant the customer wanted to pursue a lower cost option.


The Hitachi Air Source Heat pump was installed and connected to a Worcester oil boiler, which acts as a backup in case the heat pump needs assisting during peak demands.

An 8kW Solar PV system with an export limitations device was also installed, due to the high demand for electricity. The limitations device prevents power exceeding 4kw from being fed back into the national grid, thereby reducing the carbon footprints alongside electrical costs.

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) works by absorbing heat from outside air through this system and can be operated effectively at temperatures as low as -20°C meaning it can be relied upon across the seasons to provide regular and consistent performance giving homeowners control over cost and efficiencies.
This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems and hot water in your home.
